Time I updated!

I know I havnt been on much of late, but as man is asleep on the sofa ive got at least an hour to catch up on things, one of which is one here!

Well first day of holiday...woke to the sound of a mobile ringing at 4 am! Backu is 4 hours ahead! This carried on for most of the morning, whilst I spent most of the morning getting business up straight, huffing and puffing at not only his mobile ringing (both of them) but the amount of time spent sorting out bits for there and here. I was compensated by lunch out, which was ok but nowt spectacular, amidst more phone calls of course!

Afternoon was spent doing some gardening and a trip to the tip! You just cant buy this type of package holiday in the shop you know! Was nice in the afternoon when it had cooled some what. I sat in the garden watching the birds..

Today I had thought more of an exciting day, mobile went off first thing again, again most of the morning was spent sorting out parts etc... Went into town as he needs to get his banking arrangements sorted out, whether to go offshore or not, to be honest I think he may as well leave it as it is, there doesnt seem to be any advantages of having offshore anymore...mr brown still seems to be able to tax you, lets face it, if there is a way he will find it! Lunch out again, not particularly nice :(

Man is now asleep as he is poorley..ah bless, he isnt to well to be fair so after Ive caught up here I may go out for a wander as I hate to be cooped up for to long. Im listening to war of the worlds, as mike mentioned it, then I got forever autumn in my head...great track! Looks like we may have some more rain too, the sky is quite grey..

Tomorrow he said he will take me to the coast, I will plan a close trip as driving isnt a favoured past time! I will of course get stressed as he isnt into birds or photography and his idea of a walk is to get to a - b as quickly as possible! I may even leave the camera at home.....still its nice to have him home, I hadnt realised how much I do like to have the company....

Too warm

Also had a first for me with a mistle thrush, so Im a happy bun!

Sorry Jan..

..even you wouldn't like this heat today. Yesterday it was nice as it was hot, today its that warm muggy cloudy heat, where if you so much as move an inch you break out in a sweat! Ive managed to do a few bits around the house with plenty of fan breaks in between, ive got two fans on the go all windows and doors open. Fed the birds topped up their baths, poor things they must get so hot in this weather.

Well Im going to have a cold shower...tip if you are hot, put your wrists (vein side down)into very cold water this will cool your body down much more effectively. Or have a nice cup of tea!!! I may have a wander out but not far.. Also I might not be about much this week with Phill being back, Im hoping to manage a few days out, but will have to work on him some-what! Guess I will have to cook him a chilli tonight as thats all he has been asking for since he came back!!!! I will update when I can, but probably wont be on chat much this week :(

more summer madness

Mad Dogs and Nicolas....

.......go for an 8 ish mile walk in the midday sun!!

Went to fairlands today, not a bad place but really the only green spot in toon, normally lots of families with darling children go there. As the footie was on it was fairly empty. It an uphill walk to get there which is quite nice, but you have to follow the road so a bit noisy. As soon as you get there though the traffic noise disappears and its all green around you. Had some lunch there which was ok, nowt special. Main objective was to try out some more settings on the camera. Im not so sure that they are improving or not, however its nice to use the other settings and actually know what they are. Thanks Mike! Im not the easiest of pupils but I do try!!!!

Was lovely by the lakes and the ponds, by the time I was ready to come home though the park was filling up. Nice stroll all downhill home! Thinking of where to goto tomorrow, although I may have a day at home, get another garden chair from B&Q as my one is at silverstone at the moment, maybe a lazy day in the garden is called for. Suppose I should try and get my legs to match the colour of my arms!!!!!!

Just one last thing about hogs, if you have them in your garden, please make sure you leave out fresh water and some food during the day. This time of year females have had the hoglets and may come out during the day to find food and water. Having this in our gardens means they dont have to go far to get some, which is more chance of survival for them and the hoglets!

More hog snaps

Not long now...

Well Ive stopped stressing and finally relaxed....why am I stressed? Phill is back tomorrow!!!!! He isnt here long before he is off to Silverstone (men only) so wont really see him til Sunday. I was panicking before as I have some mail that needed to be posted last week, not life or death but he will declare how I cant be trusted to post any mail! I also wanted to get some shopping in as mother hubboard is here, but havnt done that either. Well theres nowt I can do about it now....anyway he will need something to do after he has cut the grass!!

Hog snaps

Ok the photos on blogger dont appear to be working at the moment, so for now you can see them here

  • Hog Photos
  • . When it is working again then I will post them here too, but ive tried 3 times already, keeps coming up with some server error?!?

I dont take many colour photos of the hogs, but when I do its best to be higher and at the back of them, last year I fed in a different place so could hang out the window, not so easy this year, but will think of a solution im sure..

    Ta Boo

Well om Saturday I did hear a knock at the door, but as it was 7.30 (which is early Pete) I chose to roll over and ignore it. Eventually when I got up I saw a card from the postman telling me he could post the parcel as it was too big for the letterbox. Damn I thought, but its ok as I can get them to redeliver to work on Monday.

I know that is was coming from boo as she said she was sending me an eagles cd (yay). However as my poor brain cant remember much past the last 2 minutes..I forgot to phone up and get it redelivered. Im out the branch tomorrow morning as Im on this workshop thing and have to goto Luton, so the next time would be Wednesday...no good as Boo says there is some tansy in their which will dry out by then.

Finish work then I set off for the delivery office, Im not sure exactly how far it is, but as I wanted to avoid all the main roads, I took a longer route then needed, so by my calculations it was 4 mile round trip....my poor feet are a wee bit sore now. Got in open up the parcel and it was well worth it, as the photos below will show you. I laughed and laughed as Im sure you will too......

    Nice walk

Need to clear my head so decided to go for a stroll. I tend to avoid going to far in the summer time as my hayfever can get bad enough so I cant breathe. So took my pill, drops in my eyes armed myself with enough medication one hayfever sufferer can carry, plus the camera and off I went.

I didnt really go out to take photos as such, but as I have read some

  • Photography Tips
  • , and
  • Photography advice
  • I went armed to try out some of the settings that I havnt tried before.

I went for the normal walk up to the graveyard, so peaceful and the grass up there is quite long with lots of daisies and wildflowers. I sat and took a lot of shots using different settings, I have never before noted the shutter speed of the camera, I was there for ages just clicking away, not really bothering about the outcome of the photos....good job as most are over exposed, but really happy that ive learnt more about the camera and the different settings. I will of course now spare more time to keep practising this!

Had a walk through the new graveyard, noted the rose bush beds look like they are doing very well, the blooms will be lovely, plus there was some lovely acers, but I tend to put the camera away when Im in that part, as there are normally people there who are tending graves, so I respect this by not getting my camera out and snapping.

After that I though would like to see some water, to see if the damselflies are about, now I have a few choices, there are man-made lakes close to where I live but a hot sunny day normally brings families and noise! I opted for a quitter spot, not much of a stream, but normally throws up some interesting subjects. Spent a while there, until the smell of dog pooh really got up my nose, plus my ears were beginning to be blocked by the hayfever so came home. All in all a lovely day, ive even tanned a little lol. I will post the photos separately

    Back to normal

    and boy am I glad!

Well ive been fairly busy today cleaning the house, even did all the insides of the windows, not too many smudges either! One highlight has been Ive bought a new fabric conditioner it has essence of almonds in, smells good enough to eat!

    Also I have been watching

  • Blue tit cam
  • most of the day following the blue tits has been sad, think the mum has been killed so a shortage of food has meant that many of the chicks have died, some have fledged and now there are two left, I hope to see them both there in the morning. You can catch up on all the news
  • Wildlife forum
  • . The last link is where you can find me when Im not here. Lots of like minded people who care passionately about the wildlife around them, plus take some fantastic photos...Do drop in and say hello...

I will post some photos tomorrow of the birds I took today or you can look on the above forum. Well best get hogs dinner ready and put the cams on....

    02 June 2006

    Oh my

Ok hairdressers booked for 5pm, so will leave just before that, going for a chopped off look, not been to this hairdressers before, actually I dont go that often as I have a phobia of them, wont go into detail now as I will get all worked up and then wont go, the last time I had it cut was early December so I suppose Im getting better. Normally its once a year!!!

Then I will dash (well stroll) to staples to get mic thingy or headset whatever there is, back to waitrose as Tesco's on a friday....You kidding me!?!? Get something for tea, plan to be back home 6.30 at latest, get the chores done after Ive stopped shaking from hairdresser ordeal. Start some washing, I may clean the inside of the windows and possibly cut the grass. Just realised its this coming week that Phill is back so best get the house ship shape and all that!!

    01 June 2006

    Brown envelopes

Yay, came home to a brown envelope from Jan, more episodes of lost, Im resisting the urge to put them on now, as I wont get anything else done. Although Ive just paid the rent, plus some of phills bills. He got paid today too so I have moved his money. He checked his account the other day and was amazed at how as soon as money was coming in I was moving it out. Ive left him £50 what more does he want? Soon it will all go offshore, it should mean something less for me to do. However he will get one with internet access. I dont mind really he works some very long hours and near on seven days a week, plus one more account for me to look after isnt too bad, oh and thebusinesss account too, then the offshore one..hmmm

Ok tried the value tesco range (Oh janine Matalans not maplins :)). Well first pair laddered instantly. Got second pair, they are very soft so wasnt thinking that they would give very good support. Got them on with out laddering them. But with tights after the crotch you should get a bit more as a waistband. But these stop at the crotch. Its not a case that they are too short or small, there is no waistband at all. It just stops! Maybe thats why they are £1.25 for 5 pairs as half the tights are missing! Couldnt cope with that so put some different ones on, which I have since put a hole in them. Wont be buying them again, I might sample primark next, oh dear my main goal in life seems to be finding a pair of tights that last past a second wash, dont ladder, dont rip, have a waistband and dont cost the earth!! Im trying to think of things I can use the non wearable tights for, if you have any suggestions please feel free to leave a comment, note im not into bank robbery though!!!

Well Id best get on with the chores, fill up the feeders, oh the lovely squirell has now broken the nut feeder, it was new too and not cheap. Ive taken it in, I might see if I can fix it as I really cant replace it at the moment. Im gutted though as the smaller birds liked to use it. I will get the soldier iron out over the w/e and see what can be done with it...
